How to check a job advert in Ghana before you apply
Check the original vacancy and application channel before sending documents or money.

A vacancy shared on WhatsApp or social media may use the name of a real public body or employer. That alone does not show that the organisation is recruiting. Use this repeatable check with the original source and Ghanaian official notices.
Start with the organisation's own notice
For public-service roles, check the Public Services Commission's job-vacancies page and the hiring institution's own website. The commission has warned that online messages can falsely claim to recruit on behalf of public institutions. A current official notice should let you confirm the role, deadline and application instructions.
For a private employer, open the careers section from its main website instead of relying on a forwarded short link. Search for the exact title and reference. If the employer uses a separate application portal, check that its official careers page actually sends applicants there.
Match the route, not just the logo
Compare the role, location, qualifications, closing date and destination with the original advert. A copied logo or letterhead can be attached to a fake form. Search independently for the organisation's published phone number or website if any detail differs.
The Ghana Revenue Authority's careers page carries a scam alert. The Ghana Cyber Security Authority also advises applicants to verify job advertisements through the named organisation's official channel. These warnings show why the application route matters as much as the vacancy title.
Pause if someone asks for a fee or private details
The Public Services Commission has stated that it does not charge an application or processing fee for its recruitment and does not authorise other people or organisations to recruit on its behalf. A payment request using its name is a reason to stop and verify.
Do not send identity documents, bank details or a one-time code through a chat simply because a sender claims to be a recruiter. If the role is real, use the official submission method printed on its current advert.
Keep evidence of what you applied to
Save the original link or PDF, closing date, reference and application confirmation. This makes it easier to recognise an unrelated follow-up message. Use workghana.net to discover openings, then apply through the original source.
If the source link on workghana.net no longer matches the role or the vacancy has closed, tell us through our contact page so we can correct the listing.
