GoldBod says its reforms created 4,866 direct jobs in under two years

The Ghana Gold Board puts 361 of the jobs in the public sector and 4,505 in the private sector, and plans a support programme for small-scale miners in 2027.

The Ghana Gold Board said on 20 October 2026 that its licensing, institutional and value-addition reforms have created 4,866 direct jobs in less than two years. Its chief executive, Sammy Gyamfi, gave the figure in a keynote address at the African Minerals Policy Forum.

GoldBod splits the total into 361 public-sector positions and 4,505 private-sector jobs. These are the board's own figures. It also says the reforms are opening indirect work for artisanal smelters, jewellers and young entrepreneurs, but it gives no number for that.

GoldBod plans to introduce an Artisanal and Small-Scale Mining Formalization and Financing Support Programme in 2027, with the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and the University of Mines and Technology, and technical support from South Africa's Rand Refinery. It says the programme aims to raise gold production, mineral revenue and employment.

The statement doesn't advertise any vacancies or give a way to apply, and it doesn't say how many people the 2027 programme will take on. Wait for an official GoldBod notice before you act on any message about jobs there.

Applying is free, and nobody should pay for a job.
