Imagine you've sent eight applications in a month: three private jobs, two graduate programmes and a few public posts. A week later a number calls you and asks if you still want the job. Which one was it? With the tracker, you can see the post, the employer, the date you applied and the link you used. That's also how you spot a message about a job you never applied for.
What should I record for each job?
Write down the post, the employer, where you saw it, the closing date, the date you applied and any reference number. Keep a copy of the advert too, since pages get taken down after the closing date. A reference often helps when you phone to ask about your application.
When should I follow up?
Follow the advert first. Some say only shortlisted applicants will be contacted. If it says nothing, a short, polite message or phone call after two weeks is reasonable. Set that date in the tracker and it will show up when it's due.
What about voucher serial numbers and portal logins?
Don't type them here. A voucher serial and PIN open your application on a portal, so keep them on paper or in a safe place. The tracker is only for the date, the post and your status. Anyone who picks up your phone can read what's in this browser, so use a phone lock.
Questions people ask
Where is my list saved?
In this browser, on this device. We never see it. If you clear your browser data or change phones, the list goes, so save a copy as a file now and then.
Can I open the list in Excel or Google Sheets?
Yes. The download is a spreadsheet file that both can open.
Do I need an account?
No. There's no signup at all.
